Australia has a decent amount of reliable and regulated crypto trading platforms, so it’s quite easy finding an exchange that has Audius. While each one comes with its own feature-set and fee structure, most crypto exchanges function very similarly when it comes to buying crypto.

Let’s get into it!

How to Buy Audius in Australia

There are only 4 main steps involved and it’s pretty straightforward:

  1. Choose a crypto exchange
  2. Sign up with the exchange
  3. Fund your account with AUD
  4. Buy Audius

1. Choose a crypto exchange

As mentioned above, we have plenty of options when it comes to Australian crypto exchanges. While that’s great, you ideally want to do a bit of research so you can use one that has a decent fee structure and more importantly, has Audius in its list of cryptocurrencies.

Personally, we really like Swyftx, they have over 300 cryptocurrencies, a very smooth process for buying crypto, and their support team has been fantastic.

And if you sign up through our site, you’ll get 20$ worth of free BTC once you start trading, which is always nice.

So for this guide on buying Audius, we’ll be using Swyftx as the exchange to go through. Any exchange would work of course, as long as they offer Audius.

2. Sign up with the crypto exchange

Once you’ve decided on which exchange to use, it’s time to sign up.

Sign up with Swyftx and grab $20 free BTC.

Swyftx has a very streamlined sign-up process in place. The first step is to fill in the sign-up form.

Next up is to go through their basic verification process, called a KYC, which is required by law here in Australia. This should be very quick and easy.

Once done, it’s time for the next step.

3. Funding your account with AUD

To buy Audius, you first need to transfer AUD to your Swyftx account using one of the many deposit methods available. From bank transfer to PayID, POLi pay and credit cards, plenty of options to choose from.

4. Buy Audius

The final step is to go to their asset list, find Audius, navigate to the buy section, and then trade your AUD for some AUDIO. Once you’ve bought Audius, you can track how much you’ve gained or lost either in the app (they have a great app), or on desktop on the left-hand side under your cryptocurrency list.

About Audius

Audius is a decentralized music streaming protocol. It was initially built on the POA network, but it now lives on Solana. Audius was founded to address inefficiencies in the music business that are plagued by intransparent music rights ownership and intermediaries between artists, their fans, and their audience.

Audius aims to align the interests of artists, fans and node operators through its platform powered by its native AUDIO token. Artists can upload music which can be stored and distributed via content discovery nodes. It can be downloaded and listened to by fans for free. Audius currently offers rewards for content creators, such as inclusion on the weekly trendsing list. Audius will add stablecoins for artists to allow them to offer paid content. To give fans exclusive content, artist tokens will be integrated. This could enable them to collaborate with platforms like Rally.

Audius is comprised of four main participants: artists, fans, content nodes and discovery nodes.

Audius permits artists to post content. They can stream music at 320kbps and it is free. Similar to Spotify or Google Play Music, this is similar. Audius does not have copyright because it is decentralized. The protocol is currently developing an arbitration system that will be used by the community. Artists can use Audius to share bonus tracks and experiment. The platform plans to include artist tokens that allow for monetization. Artists must stake AUDIO. Artists may also be eligible to participate in reward programs, which will see tokens being delivered to the most well-known artists.

Listen to free tracks and maybe you can stake AUDIO for the future to help artists grow. You can also earn badges by displaying your NFTs on this platform.

AudSP Content Nodes are a platform-native extension to IPFS that maintains content availability. Clients of artists can elect to have a set do this automatically on their behalf. Fans can fetch the content from the nodes and provide proof of ownership to get keys. Artists have the option to run their own content nodes, giving them greater control over their content distribution. The protocol's content ledger tracks all actions and is a single source of truth.

Users can query metadata stored in the discovery nodes. They allow users to search for new content, and act as the registry.
