Australia has a decent number of trusted and regulated cryptocurrency trading platforms, so it’s quite easy finding an exchange that has Chromia. While each one comes with its own feature-set and fee structure, most crypto exchanges function very similarly when it comes to buying crypto.

Let’s get into it!

How to Buy Chromia in Australia

There are only 4 main steps involved and it’s pretty straightforward:

  1. Choose a crypto exchange
  2. Sign up with the exchange
  3. Fund your account with AUD
  4. Buy Chromia

1. Choose a crypto exchange

As mentioned above, we have plenty of options when it comes to Australian crypto exchanges. While that’s great, you ideally want to do a bit of research so you can use one that has a decent fee structure and more importantly, has Chromia in its list of cryptocurrencies.

Personally, we really like Swyftx, they have over 300 cryptocurrencies, a very smooth process for buying crypto, and their support team has been fantastic.

And if you sign up through our site, you’ll get 20$ worth of free BTC once you start trading, which is always nice.

So for this guide on buying Chromia, we’ll be using Swyftx as the exchange to go through. Any exchange would work of course, as long as they offer Chromia.

Or, if you’d like to learn more about the exchanges we recommend, look at our comparison of the crypto trading platforms.

2. Sign up with the crypto exchange

Once you’ve decided on which exchange to use, it’s time to sign up.

Sign up with Swyftx and grab $20 free BTC.

Swyftx has a very streamlined sign-up process in place. The first step is to fill in the sign-up form.

Next up is to go through their basic verification process, called a KYC, which is required by law here in Australia. This should be very quick and easy.

Once done, it’s time for the next step.

3. Funding your account with AUD

To buy Chromia, you first need to transfer AUD to your Swyftx account using one of the many deposit methods available. From bank transfer to PayID, POLi pay and credit cards, plenty of options to choose from.

4. Buy Chromia

The final step is to go to their asset list, find Chromia, navigate to the buy section, and then trade your AUD for some CHR. Once you’ve bought Chromia, you can track how much you’ve gained or lost either in the app (they have a great app), or on desktop on the left-hand side under your cryptocurrency list.

About Chromia

The Swedish company Chromaway AB developed Chromia, an open-source public cryptocurrency. The launch of the Chroma token (CHR) was made in May 2019. Chromia's blockchain technology is adapted from an older technology called Postchain', which was offered by Chromaway AB for enterprise clients.

Chromia is both a standalone layer-1 and EVM-compatible Layer-2 addition to Ethereum and Binance Smart chain. It is designed to enhance existing dApps and allow for creation and maintenance next-generation apps.

Rell is a programming language which uses a unique architecture called relational blockchain. Rell is able to code and function in the same way as SQL. This allows developers to benefit from the immutability, security, and efficiency of blockchain while also storing and managing data with relational databases.

Every dApp running on Chromia has its sidechain. It is rooted on the main Blockchain. Each app can scale more quickly and developers have the choice of many fee structures. A CHR transaction fee might be required for one application, much like the Bitcoin and Ethereum transactions. Another application might hold enough CHR to allow users to make unlimited transactions without fees and reserve computing power.

Chromia already has many apps that are built on their blockchain. Their chain is used as a decentralized storage system and Layer-2 enhancements. These applications include the DeFi Options trading platform Hedget, and the open-world farming game My Neighbor to the government land registry initiative LAC PropertyChain.

A new NFT standard, Chromia Originals is in development. It will serve as both a native standard for Chromia's Chain as well as as an enhancement layer to existing ERC-721 and BEP-721 tokens. These Layer-2 enhancements were created in collaboration by My Neighbor Alice.
